I’m Jim’s cousin and I believe I was just around 20 when I heard he was getting married.  Diane worked for a company in the Guardian Building in Downtown Detroit – where I also worked  – and occasionally we’d run into each other going in or coming out. We’d have quick conversations, she was always so nice and pleasant, and I recall thinking that cousin Jimmy was a pretty lucky guy.  I remember a few years later, when Diane was nearing the end of her pregnancy, Jim’s mother – my aunt Dorothy – was in the hospital and I went to visit her.  I checked in at the desk and gave the name “Comer” – but then quickly realized I was about to be led to the nursery area.   It turned out Brad had been born just a few hours earlier, so there were now multiple Comers at Bon Secours.  Luckily I turned around and made my way to the right one,  because I doubt Diane would have appreciated such an early visit from me. I have nothing but the fondest memories of Diane at so many family gatherings – and my other cousins will verify that we all liked her so well, and so did our parents, that we didn’t tease her or pick on her like  the family often did with the unfortunate dates of other cousins.  Ok, maybe we teased a little, but not much.  I’m thankful that Diane was part of our family, that she was such a wonderful mother to Brad – who’s become a fine son, husband, father, and public servant that any parent would be proud of – and such a loving and devoted partner to Jim, like he was to her.  Kathy and I extend our sympathy to Jim, Brad, Teresa and all the family.   

I will never forget the day I walked around the block with my 2 year old son and made friends with the kindest woman I have ever known. She was outside with her adorable  son and our boys became lifelong friends and our families shared so  many adventures together.  We made so many wonderful memories.  We will always love you Diane.
