Audrey was born on Saturday, March 4, 1922, in Lynchburg, VA to the late James Herbert Sr. and Bertha White. A retired employee of Madison Garment Company, she was known for her skilled and detailed work as a seamstress. A devoted member of Randolph Memorial Baptist Church, it was no secret that she lived her life in accordance to her faith without hesitation. Audrey strived to do all that she could for others in need, even if it meant she would go without. She and her husband Eugene spent over twenty years volunteering with the local chapter of “Meals on Wheels”. She will be remembered for her love and compassion for others, but most of all the impressions of love left behind on the hearts of so many.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert L. Trivett; brothers, Robert “Bo” White (Katie), Thomas White, and James White Jr.; sisters, Margaret Paris (Harry) and Nellie Dawson (Leonard); as well as several nieces and nephews.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of sixty-eight years, Eugene “Gene” Prevento; stepdaughter, Pamela P. Witt (Michael); three granddaughters, Tonya Eldert (Michael), Laura Reed (Ken), and Hope Thompson (Don); two great-grandchildren, Christopher Vito and Sianna Eldert; also left to cherish her memory are numerous other family members and dear friends.
A celebration of Audrey’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, in the Randolph Memorial Baptist Church Sanctuary, with Pastor Derik Hamby officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The church will host a reception following the service. Interment will follow the reception at Briarwood Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Gentle Shepherd Hospice, especially her nurses Heather and Gwen for the exceptional care they provided her. The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to Audrey’s in-home caregivers, Marva, Laverne, Sheril, and April for the outstanding and compassionate care they have also provided.
