Bernice Sprouse

Born in Roseland, May 12, 1931, she was a daughter of the late William H. Ponton and Precious White Ponton. She was retired from the Old Dominion Box Co. and was a member of Memorial Christian Church.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Jerry L. Ponton; four brothers, Robert Ponton, Elwood Ponton, Floyd Ponton and William “Brother” Ponton and three sisters, Katherine Adams, Alice Fulcher and Virginia Tinsley.

She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Ramsey and husband Allen and Deborah Gulas all of Hurt and Betty Lou Harvey and husband Zane of Madison Heights; one son, Morris Jay Sprouse of Madison Heights; one sister, Elizabeth Ponton of Amherst; eight grandchildren, Philip Snively, Jeffrey Snively, Bryan Knowles and wife Beth, Matthew King, Jamie Burks and husband Timmy, Daniel Harvey and wife Michele, Kyle Harvey and Kevin Harvey; seven great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Snively, Kelsey King, Nathan King, Abigail Burks, Kayleann Burks, Sienna Harvey and Luke Harvey. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

A service celebrating her life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 10, 2015 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Virgil Knipp and the Rev. Sue Knipp officiating. Interment will follow in Briarwood Memorial Park.
