Born January 9, 1947 in Hopewell, he was the son of Evelyn Thomas Harris of Brookneal and the late Sterling Franklin Harris, Jr. He was a retired Administrative Purchaser with the Central Virginia Training Center and a member of Southview United Methodist Church.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Harris is survived by one brother, Harry V. Harris and his wife Monica of Madison Heights; four nieces, Karlee Wriston, Kaitlyn Lewis, Brittney Schmelz, and Jennifer Brewer and four nephews, Christopher Lewis, DeWayne Smith, Steven Donald, and Melvin Smith.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 16, 2012 at Whitten Monelison Chapelwith the Rev. George S. Riggins, III officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, July 15, 2012 at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
