

Born in Madison Heights, October 31, 1932, he was the son of the late Carl William Wingfield and Lula Cash Wingfield. Carlton, the son of a sharecropper was a self-made man. He had a modest upbringing, but with years of hard work and perseverance founded Wingfield Real Estate and Auction Company. He served on the board of directors at the Bank of Virginia and Whitten Funeral Home as well as other county boards. Carlton was a huge fan and supporter of all Amherst County sports and had a passion for tennis and antique cars. He knew the Lord as his Savior and was a long time member of Randolph Memorial Baptist Church where he was a Life Deacon and Trustee. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He never missed an opportunity to watch his grandchildren play a game, attend a school play or an awards assembly. He was the family’s biggest advocate.
He was preceded in death by one son, Steven Blake Wingfield, Sr.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, C.T. Wingfield of Madison Heights; one daughter, Melanie W. Woods and her husband Wesley of Madison Heights; two sisters, Rachel Blackmer of Grand Haven, MI and Wanda Vukmirovich of Lynchburg; nine grandchildren, Betsy Bever, Carlton Wingfield Jr., Steven Blake Wingfield, Jr., Phillip Wingfield, Peter Woods, Harmon Woods, Leslie Camden, Micheal Cooper, Lauren Overstreet; four great grandchildren, Carlton T. "Trey" Wingfield, III, Matthias Bever, Madeline Bever and Maelie Bever and two daughters-in-law, Sherri Wingfield and Cindy Wingfield Lemmons.
And other special little ones include Aiden, Addie, Acie and Bella.
A service celebrating Carlton's life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Randolph Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Derik Hamby, Rev. Don Norman and Blake Wingfield officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
Following the graveside service, the family will host a reception at Randolph Memorial Baptist Church.
