Cromer Augustus Herman, 86, of Madison Heights passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018, surrounded by his family, at Fairmont Crossing. He was the husband of Nancy Black Herman. Born April 10, 1931, in Catawba County, NC, he was the son of the late James Cromer Herman and the late Sally Arndt Herman.
Cromer was a retired production manager for Old Dominion Box Company and a member of Monroe United Methodist Church. He dearly loved his family, and was a loving son, husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. Cromer loved to hunt, fish, watch NASCAR and was a Cowboys and Dodgers fan. His cherished last words to his family were, “I love my family.”
In addition to his parents, Cromer was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Dale and Marolyn Sipe.
In addition to his wife, Cromer is survived by his children, Debbie Doyle of Lynchburg, Alan Herman (Caryn) of Midlothian and Lisa Haskins (Ricky) of Lynchburg; two siblings, Joel Herman (Donna) of Newton, NC and Mary Williams (James) of Newton, NC; six grandchildren, Angie Bryant (Darrin), Jeff Doyle, Chris Herman (Ally), Jeremy Herman, Taylor Haskins and Joshua Haskins; four great grandchildren, Cason Doyle, Kamry Doyle, Ethan Bryant and Kanzler Bryant; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Josh Dalton officiating. Interment will be private at Briarwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Monroe United Methodist Church.
