David Morris Smith

Born September 22, 1940, in Blooming Grove, NY, he was a son of the late Bartley Lewis Smith and Ella Catherine Van Orden Smith. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bartley Leon Smith.

Mr. Smith was a veteran of the US Army, having served with the 3rd Infantry Old Guard. He was employed as a bus driver for Trailways/Greyhound Bus Co., and retired after 44 years of service. He was of Baptist Faith. He was a member of the Piney River Moose Lodge, and was a beloved Papaw who enjoyed his grandkids and their various activities.

Survivors also include two daughters, Karen M. Smith and fiancé, Gary Drumheller, and Jennifer S. Maddox and husband Kenny Maddox, both of Amherst; three granddaughters, Hope Kristina Maddox, Kate Amanda Maddox, and Krystal Patricia Maddox, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12-1:30 pm at Whitten Monelison Chapel. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 pm at Briarwood Memorial Gardens, following the visitation, with military honors by American Legion Post 16.
