

Dolly Irvin Woody “Queen”, 80, of Madison Heights, died, Monday, September 5, 2011, at her residence. She was the wife of Franklin Clark Woody and the late Jesse Elsworth Irvin. Born December 13, 1930, in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late James Cleveland Boaze and the late Delila Ann Turner Boaze.
Mrs. Woody was a homemaker, mother and lover of flowers, and she was also a member of Northside Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir.
In addition to her first husband and her parents, Mrs. Woody is preceded in death by one son; Leonard “Lennie” Irvin; four brothers, James William Boaze, Charles Henry Boaze, Larry Boaze and Franklin D. Boaze; and four sisters, Reva Norvelle, Mary Viar (Sis), Bernice White and Joyce White.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Woody is survived by seven children, James “P.W.” Irvin and his wife Hopie of Madison Heights, Jesse W. Irvin and his wife Barbara of Madison Heights, Richard W. Irvin and his wife Susan of Lynchburg, Sharon I. Hughes and her husband Randy D. of Amherst, Sandra Lang and her husband Dennis of Madison Heights, Roger Lee Irvin of Madison Heights and Carolyn I. Bateman of Madison Heights; fifteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted, 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2011, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Jacob Uthup officiating. Interment will follow at Meade Cemetery. There will also be a reception to follow at Northside Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at Whitten Monelison Chapel and at other times at the residence.
