Frances Elizabeth Stinnett Ogden

Born in Amherst County, October 4, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Auburn Boyd Stinnett and Carrie Watts Stinnett. She was retired from the Central Virginia Training Center and was a member of Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Mt. Horeb United Methodist Women and the Pleasant Vistas Garden Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Sarah Carolyn Ogden; seven brothers, Harry Stinnett, Boyd Stinnett, Arthur Stinnett, Auburn Stinnett, Jr. and Herman Stinnett; three sisters, Dorothy Davis, Cynthia Lawhorn and Hazel Ogden and five step-sons, Frank Ogden, Jr., Ralph Ogden, Harold Ogden, Billy Ogden and Joe Ogden.

She is survived by six sons, Robert Ogden and his wife Louise of Amherst, Cecil Ogden of Burkeville, Steve Ogden and his wife Rebecca, Gail Ogden and Jimmy Ogden and his wife Maggie all of Amherst and Gary Ogden of Madison Heights; three daughters, Ann Ferguson and her husband Bill of Amherst, Gerri Price and her husband Jim of Harrisburg, NC and Freida Gillispie and her husband Bucky of Madison Heights; four step children, Esther Stinnett and Mary Fitzgerald and her husband Edgar all of Amherst, Norman Ogden and his wife Frances of Monroe and Newton Ogden and his wife Claribel of Martinsville; 39 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; a sister in law, Madeline Stinnett and two caregivers, Gloria Burford and Brenda Branham.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Judy Morris and the Rev. Stan Ogden officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2011 at the funeral home and at other times at the residence of her daughter, Ann Ferguson, 134 All American Way, Amherst.
