Born August 9, 1929 in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Clinton and Annie Thaxton Dinkins. She was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Peters; a daughter, Sandra P. Cross and a brother, J.H. Clinton Dinkins. Mrs. Peters retired from Stanley Home Products and was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Monroe.
Mrs. Peters is survived by her son, Ryland R. Peters, Sr. and wife Gladys of Amherst; two daughters, Rhonda P. Hillsman and husband Warren, also of Amherst and Wanda W. Slack of Bedford; two brothers, James D. Dinkins and Charles A. Dinkins and wife Rhonda and a sister, Janice D. Cofflin, all of Madison Heights; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to celebrate Mrs. Peters’ life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Glynn Coleman and the Rev. Brian Clabough officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at the funeral home.
