Fred Creed Shelton, Jr., age 73 of Madison Heights, widow of Linda Ham Shelton, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Lynchburg General Hospital surrounded by family.
He was born on November 26, 1943 in Bluefield, West Virginia, son of the late Fred Creed Shelton, Sr., and the late Jean Harman Shelton.
After receiving his B.A. from Concord College he went on to get his Masters Of Business degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
Fred was the retired co-founder along with his wife of Shelton & Company, CPAs, P.C, an accounting firm specializing in construction accounting. An avid hunter and fisherman, Fred enjoyed his annual hunting trips to the Big Horn Mountains in Wyoming. Fred was also a devoted VA Tech Hokie and could often be found during college football season watching VA Tech play.
He is survived by his daughter, Christine Louise Rowe and her husband Tim of Madison Heights; a son, Richard Gregory Taylor and his wife Gena of Forest; two grandchildren, Jeremy Tyler Rowe and Clayton Michael Taylor; two sisters, Judy S. Jones and husband John of Waldorf, MD and Betty Jean Faulkner and husband Walt of Bluefield, WVA.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday August 3rd at Whitten Monelison Chapel, Madison Heights with Polly M. Starnes officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service until 5 p.m.
