

George “Pat” Woody, 71, of Elon passed away Monday, April 20, 2026. He was the devoted husband of Joan Stinnett Woody of over 52 years. Born April 7, 1955, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late “Buddy” Woody and Joann Crews Woody. He was a loving husband, brother, father, and grandfather.
Pat was the proud founder of Woody Wood Chinking. His log home restoration was featured in HGTV, Barnwood Builders, and Smithsonian Magazine. He restored historical cabins for the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Monacan Indian Nation, American Civil War Museum, and Brightwell’s Mill just to name a few. He was creative and fun-spirited, a lover of adventure, travel, the beach, an avid hunter and a deep-sea fisherman.
In addition to his parents Pat was preceded in passing by his son-in-law Timmy Lewis.
He is survived by one son, Chris Woody; two daughters Shelley Query and husband Heath, and Sarah Nichols and husband Jason; two sisters Pam Brockman and husband Steen and Kay Creasey and husband David; and one brother Tommy Woody and wife Sylvia.
He is also survived by many grandchildren who he loved dearly: Breanna, Aiden, Alaina, Colton, Ella (Trevor), Emily, Madilynn, Reed, Chayse, Michael, Garnet, Delilah, and Auburn. And too many special friends and family to list.
A memorial celebration of life will take place Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Buffalo Recreation in Amherst. The family invites everyone who knew and loved Pat to attend.
In honor of his love for nature and the Eastern Shore, the family asks that any memorial donations be made to The Nature Conservancy; The Brownsville Nature Preserve.
