Grover “G.W.” Walter Thomas, 72, of Madison Heights, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of Lucille Bryant Thomas. Born March 4, 1941, in Floyd, he was the son of the late Simon Tyler Thomas and the late Vera Boyd Thomas.
G.W. was a retired tool and die maker and a member of Oakdale Baptist Church. He was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, G.W. is survived by his daughters Regina Routon and her husband Jeff of Lynchburg and Heather Thomas of Amherst; and three grandchildren, Tyler Routon, Thomas Reynolds and Ethan Burks.
A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Terry Wornstaff officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 12:30 p.m. also at Whitten Monelison Chapel and other times at the residence.
