Born in Danville, he was the son of the late Harry Lee Alderson and Janie Turner Alderson. He retired from Variety Wholesalers and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carol L. Alderson, five daughters, Debra, Donna, Cynthia, Sandra and Tamera; one son, Charles; one brother Curtis; one nephew, Curt; 12 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted Friday, June 9, 2017 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Davis, Dr. Gregory Tyree and the Rev. Brian Hudson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church 205 Sandidges Rd., Amherst, VA 24521.
