

Born July 8, 1941 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late James W. Donald, Sr. and Frances Burns Donald and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Renee Donald and a brother, Thomas Donald, Sr. He was retired from B&W and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Donald was the original owner of the hot dog carts and the Double D Restaurant. He was a charter member of Living Water Baptist Church and was very proud to have been a charter member of Thomas Road Baptist Church.
Mr. Donald is survived by a son, Pastor Daryl W. Donald, Sr. and wife Tracie of Madison Heights; two daughters, Lindsey Tyson and husband, Blaine of Charlottesville, and Kimberly Hamilton and husband Brian of Madison Heights; a sister, Pat Lawhorne; three brothers, Edward “Butch” Donald, Jack Donald and wife Barbara, and Ricky Donald and wife Kathy, all of Lynchburg.
He is also survived by six grandchildren, Daryl Wayne Donald Jr. and wife Emily, Edward James Donald and wife Kayla, Joshua Matthew Donald, Jessica Lynn Donald, Michael Wayne Haber, Jr. and wife Sierra, and Heather Janine Haber and seven great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Falwell, the Rev. Earl F. Clarkson, Jr. and the Rev. Thomas Brooks officiating.
Interment with military honors by American Legion Post 16 will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, May 2, 2016 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
