Born June 20, 1934 in Amherst County, he was the son of the late Horance Reeves Floyd and the late Arva Garvin Floyd. He was also preceded in death by five siblings, Vivian Wagner, Mary F. Hartless, Helen Tadlock, Jean Floyd and Carlton Floyd. He was a retired welder with Lynchburg Foundry and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monroe.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Floyd is survived by two brothers, H.H. (Buck) Floyd of Rustburg and Robert Floyd and wife Jeanne of Monroe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Glynn Coleman and the Rev. Stephen Arrington officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Whitten Monelison Chapel and other times at the residence of Phill and Linda Coley – the old home place.
