
Born December 24, 1926, in Madison Heights, he was a son of the late McCoy and Mary Stinnett Wilkerson. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, William M. Wilkerson, Charles A. Wilkerson, and Harry L. Wilkerson; and a sister, Mary W. Lee.
Mr. Wilkerson was a United States Navy, D-Day, veteran having served in WW II. He was a member of Sandy Bottom Christian Church, and was retired as a mechanic and locksmith.
Survivors also include three children, Keith A. Wilkerson and wife Gwen, of Lynchburg, James Bradley Wilkerson and wife Nicole, and Sandra W. Jordan and husband David, both of Monroe; a sister, Martha W. Lee, of Madison Heights; six grandchildren, Windy Harper, Erin Harper, Daniel Wilkerson, Joseph Wilkerson, Anne Wilkerson, and Grace Terry; one great-grandson, Harper Addison, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and his beloved dog “Red”.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at Fort Hill Memorial Park, by the Rev. Jim Freeman, with military honors by American Legion Post 16. The family will recieve friends at the residence of Mrs. Wilkerson.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Sandy Bottom Christian Church, or to American Legion Post 16.
