

Born in Lynchburg, May 13, 1942, he was the son of the late Bennie Lee Walton and Emma Via Walton. He was a retired driver from the Armored car service and was a member of Madison Heights Baptist Church. Jerry was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and was a longtime coach with both Dixie Youth baseball and girls softball. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by two sons, Bennie Wayne Walton and his fiancé Angela and Mark Douglas Walton and his wife Laurel; one daughter, April W. Irby and her husband Jamie; two sisters, Bonnie W. Mayberry and her husband Jerry and Donna Pearce and her husband Sandy; six grandchildren, Jeremy, Kyle, Kelsey, Mitch, Mandi and Wyatt and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved dog of 15 years, “Peanut”.
A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2016 at Madison Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Blake and the Rev. John Ragland officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Lynchburg Health and Rehab., the Pearson Cancer Center, and especially the ladies in clinical trials studies.
