Born in Lynchburg, July 1, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Willie Russell Banton and Katie Frazier Banton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Jean Banton Lawhorne.
Jewel was a former employee with Virginia Brick. She loved animals and throughout the years has always had pets. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her son, Christopher Staton and his wife Bonnie of Amherst; two grandsons, Justin Staton and his Fiancé Melanie and Joshua Staton and his fiancé Kat; four great grandchildren, Jeremyah, Jaelynn, Emmah and Rhylund and her dog “Rugrat”.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2018 at Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
