John Dennis Childress

Born April 7, 1952 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late John and Reba Boblett Childress. John was a seven year veteran of the Virginia National Guard and was employed with the service department at Brockman Subaru.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by three children, John D. “Jay” Childress and wife Robbie of Concord, Tanya M. Dickerson and husband Brian of Appomattox, and Jason D. Childress and wife Daisy of Madison Heights; one sister, Catharine C. Barefoot of Gloucester Point, VA; three grandchildren, Amber, Kayli, and Haley and four step-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Dr. J. Monty Fox officiating.

The family will receive friends Sunday for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
