Joyce Brooks

Born May 28, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Odell Owen.

Joyce was retired from the Central VA Training Center with 20 years of service. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She cared for all those around her, no matter what.

Surviving are her husband, Van Brooks, her children, Lori Midgley (Kevin) and John Creasey (Toni); her loving sister and brother, Betty Baker and Sam Owen; step-children Carlton Brooks (Gwen) and Angie Curran; her grandchildren, Brinna, Grayson, Hali, Theo (Kari), Joshua, Jeremy, Justin and great grandchild Alex, along with numerous loving nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Chris Brooks officiating.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to Dr Oldham, whom our mother trusted with everything she had, and he did not fail her. Also to the staff of the 4th floor Oncology at Lynchburg General Hospital, your support and loving care of our mother will not be forgotten.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the American Cancer Association.
