She was born on January 31, 1940 in Lynchburg, daughter of the late George and Vassie Simpson.
Joyce was a longtime active member of Randolph Memorial Baptist Church until her health prevented her from attending on a regular basis. She was a retired bank teller who loved camping as well as spending time with family and friends. Joyce was also always open to a good card game.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Simpson.
She is survived by her husband Phillip; two sons, Gary Walton and Rick Walton and his wife Lorenda; one brother, W.A. "Bill" Simpson; as well as a niece and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Rev. Ed Vogt officiating. Interment will be private at a later date. The family will receive friends following the funeral service until 3:00 pm on Saturday.
