Lillian "Tennie" Lee Russell Johnson

Born January 24, 1930 in Roseland, she was the daughter of the late Catherine Johnson Lawrence and was also preceded in death by her grandmother, Mrs. Hattie Rose Johnson. She was retired from the Central Virginia Training Center and was a longtime member of St. James Baptist Church in Roseland and was presently a member of Faith Baptist Church in Madison Heights.

Ms. Johnson is survived by eight children, James Tilton Johnson and wife Dorothy, Anna Frances Johnson, and Rebecca Kathleen Reid and husband Winzelle, all of Lynchburg, Freddie Mitchell Johnson of Oklahoma, Vanessa Dale Rose (Norman) of Madison Heights, Carlyle Virginia DeMore and husband Michael of Lapeer, MI, Calvin Lee Johnson of Nelson County, and Vicki Sherrill Toliver and husband Don of Madison Heights; one sister, Mary Thompson of New York; an uncle, William Johnson and wife Sarah of Maryland and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 30, 2015 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Michael Page and the Rev. Brian Hudson officiating. Interment will follow at Briarwood Memorial Gardens.

In following with Mrs. Johnson’s wishes, there will not be visitation hours at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Vanessa.
