Lloyd Gwynn Grow

Lloyd Gwynn Grow, 88, of Amherst passed away Friday, April 23, 2021, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Dorothy Grow. Born August 30, 1932, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late James Harold Grow and the late Bessie Lucille Schulmier Grow. Lloyd was a retired senior internal insurance auditor for American General, where he worked for 40 years. Lloyd served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of Amherst Baptist Church, where he served for over 50 years as deacon, Sunday school teacher and treasurer. Lloyd enjoyed traveling, but especially serving as “chief fan” for all family sporting events. His faith, family and friends were a source of great joy to him. He was a constant supporter, spreading jokes and cheers to all who knew him. Having never met a stranger, his circle of friends was far reaching, diverse and ever-growing. In addition to his wife, Lloyd is survived by his children Peggy Pollard (Larry), Deborah Grow and Michael Lloyd Grow (Alice); one brother, Joseph Grow (Margaret); eight grandchildren, Christopher Pollard (Stephanie), Stacey Burford (Damon), Lauren Pearson (Griffin), Andrew Pollard, Mashu Murao (Yui), Maya Murao, Sanshiro Murao and Ian Grow; four great grandchildren, Nicole Pollard, Thomas Pollard, Brady Pollard and Otoha Murao; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
