Born in Madison Co., N.C., she is the daughter of Rachel Edmonds Ray Shelton of Amherst and the late Walker Ray.
Lora was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church and a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her mother and her husband, she is survived by her son, Michael S. Cook and his wife, Sue, of Forest; her daughter, Jewell Cook of Madison Heights; five grandchildren, Michael S. Cook, Jr., Catherine M. Cook, Christy Gonzalez, Thomas S. Cook and Rebecca L. Cook and five great grandchildren, Whitney A. Cook, Abigail Gonzalez, Frank Gonzalez, Cherry Gonzalez and Dylan Fuqua.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at Temple Baptist Church by the Reverend Earl Clarkson. The family will receive friends in the church reception hall after the service.
