Mamie Pauline Mayberry Freeman

Born March 27, 1922, in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Glenn Mayberry and the late Myrtle Erie Turner Mayberry. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, J. Edward “Eddie” Freeman, four brothers, Russell Mayberry, Paul Mayberry, Alfred Mayberry and Curtis Mayberry and two sisters, Essie M. Bryant and Virginia M. Clements.

Mamie was a member of Madison Heights Christian Church and a retired bank teller from Fidelity National Bank.

She is survived by one son, W. Dale Freeman and his wife, Beth, of Monroe; a daughter-in-law, Sharon C. Freeman of Madison Heights; two sisters, Myrtle M. Patterson of Madison Heights and Bernice M. Calhoun and her husband, Ray, of Lynchburg; one brother, J.B. Mayberry and his wife, Pauline, of Madison Heights; five grandchildren, Christy Fore and her husband, J.C., and Adam Clark and his wife, Lesley, all of Madison Heights, Lisa Scruggs and her husband, Ashley, of Cullen, Shannon Denny and her husband, Jon, of Ft. Worth, TX and Tammy Brooks of Las Vegas, NV and seven great grandchildren, Kelsey Fore, Lainey Fore, Cameron Scruggs, Hailey Scruggs, Grayson Clark, Robbie Belangia and Olivia Belangia.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 17, 2014, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Reverend D. Jack Hamilton, officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
