Born on March 9, 1934, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Melissa Burks. Marjorie retired from Craddock and Terry Shoe Company.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey Burks and James Burks; and two sisters-in-law, Shirley Burks and Brenda Scruggs.
She is survived by her sister, Ethel Perrow and husband, Richard; her loving and caring niece, Diane Nickerson; step-son, Michael Mitchell; step-daughter, Betty Jean Wade; brother-in-law, David Scruggs; and numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015, at Evans Family Cemetery in Amherst. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home.
