Myrtle Davis Saunders

Born July 5, 1929, in Hopewell, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Lee Davis, and the late Elsie Pearl Peters Davis. She was also preceded in death by one great-grandson.

Mrs. Saunders graduated from Hopewell High School, in 1947, and from Davis Beauty Academy, in Richmond. She was a member of Corner Stone Baptist Church.

Survivors also include four children, Nancy Wooten and husband Wilson, Janice Vosburg and husband Malcolm, Charles Haywood Saunders III and wife Wendy, and Russell Saunders and wife Sherri, all of Pedlar Mills; her brother, Ralph A. Davis Sr. and wife Alma; her sister, Alice D. Wooten and husband Willard, both of Prince George County, 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends Thursday, September 2, 2010, from 11-12:00 p.m., at Whitten Monelison Chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2010, at Whitten Monelison Chapel, by Pastor Peyton Fitzgerald. Interment will follow in Big Island Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Hills, neighbors, friends and church family, for the care and compassion shown to Mrs. Saunders and her family. She was one fine lady.
