Nancy Mays Middleton

Nancy Mays Middleton, 68, of Amherst passed away Friday, January 23, 2015, at her residence. She was the wife of Vernon Leon Middleton, Jr. Born November 11, 1946, in Nelson County, she was the daughter of Ruby Campbell Mays and the late Jack Lee Mays.

Nancy was a retired food service employee at the Central Virginia Training Center, and she was a member of Central Baptist Church. She was also a former employee of Craddock –Terry Shoe Company.

In addition to her father, Nancy was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Lee Mays, Jr.

In addition to her husband and mother, Nancy is survived by two children Troy Middleton of Amherst and Danelle M. Cheatham and her husband David of Monroe; four siblings, L. Ray Mays and his friend Betty of Forest, John Wayne Mays and his wife Tina of Madison Heights, Calvin T. Mays and his wife Beth of Concord and Joyce M. Newman and her husband Jimmy of Goode; five grandchildren, Michael Cheatham, Josh Cheatham, Candace Cheatham, Travar Cheatham and Nicole Middleton; one great granddaughter, Skyy Kimberly Reynolds; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted, 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 26, 2015, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Larry Fitzgerald officiating. Interment will follow at Amherst Cemetery.

The family will receive friends, 3-5 p.m., Sunday, January 25, 2015, at Whitten Monelison Chapel and at other times at the residence.
