Patricia Roper Hunt

Patricia Roper Hunt, 90, of Madison Heights, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 14, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hilton Hunt; and her parents Dale Allen Roper and Mary Johnson Roper. Born in Spokane, Washington, Patricia moved to Amherst County with her husband and became active in her church and community. Patricia was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed nothing more than watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren participate in sports events, school plays, recitals and more. During her life in Amherst County, Patricia worked several jobs and eventually retired from Randolph College. She always loved taking care of children which is how she met her god daughter and she also enjoyed gardening, fishing, music and her dogs. In addition to her husband and parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her brothers James Robert Roper, Michael Dale Roper, and William Lee Roper. Left to cherish her memory are Patricia’s children, Donna H. Lordahl and husband Kenny, Susan H. Riner and husband Albert, Julie H. Drago and husband Mike, James P. “Sam” Hunt and wife Shelly; her sisters Sally Dela Rosa, Mara’d VanderWal; her grandchildren Thomas Riner and wife Jenny, Melody Pillar and husband Bill, Patrick Hunt and wife Krysten, Keri Bassie and husband Mark; great-grandchildren Emma, Grace, Andrew, Tommie, Lyndsey, Caroline, Charlotte, Olivia, Ella; and god-daughter Makaya Tomlin. A service celebrating her life will be conducted at 11 am Monday, January 23, 2023 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Dr. Dan Reichard, and Pastor Charlie Olivieri officiating. Interment will follow at Meade Cemetery. Family will receive friends and family from 3-5 pm on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Whitten Monelison. The family asks that any memorial contributions be made in Patricia’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
