

Born in Lynchburg, May 19, 1959, he was a son of Frances Wood Coates of Madison Heights and the late William L. Coates.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one daughter, Colley Coates of Orlando, FL; two sisters, Sharon C. Freeman and Pam C. Wilson and her husband George all of Madison Heights; one brother, Tim Coates of Lynchburg; his father in law, Richard Pingley, Jr. of Madison Heights; one sister-in-law, Dena Gardner and her husband Yogi of Winchester; one brother in law, Gregory Pingley and his wife Beth of Madison Heights and number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Eleanor J. Pingley and two brothers-in-law, Richard Pingley, III and Eddie Freeman.
Randy was an employee of Glad Manufacturing for the past 18 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, riding his Harley and visiting West Virginia. He was a former member of the Monelison Rescue Squad where he served for a number of years and was a longtime member of Madison Heights Baptist Church where he served as Deacon.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Madison Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Blake officiating. Interment will follow in St. Stephens Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church beginning at 12:30 p.m.
