

Raymond Adolph “Bro” “Jethro” Wade, Jr., 70, of Madison Heights passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sarah “Fran” Wade.
Born in Lynchburg, January 22, 1946, he was the son of the late Raymond A. Wade and Violet Elizabeth Tyree Wade. Raymond began his career with C&P Telephone Company and later AT&T and retired from Lucent Technologies after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Church of God, American Legion Post 274, Moose Lodge 715 and the Slate River Hunt Club. He enjoyed cooking and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was very proud of the many fishing and hunting citations he received over the years. Raymond loved people and had a heart of gold. He never met a stranger and always wanted to help anyone who needed it. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Three sisters, Joyce E. Wade, Carolyn W. Goff and Robin Nuckles; one brother, Larry Nuckles and one grandson, Joshua Dylan Price preceded him in death.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Lisa Renee Lucker and Brian J. Wade both of Richmond, Heather T. Wade of Madison Heights, Kenneth D. Price and his wife Susi of Bailey, NC and Sarah J. Price and her fiancé Mike of Amherst; one sister, Mary Ann Wilson of Lynchburg; five grandchildren, Brendan Price, Nathan Price, Tyler Price, Joshua Price and Keith A. Lucker; his special Aunt, Shirley Litchford; his beloved Pug Hope and a number of nieces, nephews and other special friends.
The family would like to gratefully acknowledge his doctors, Dr. Bendall and Dr. Guanzon and the nurses and staff with Monelison Family Practice for the excellent care they provided during his illness and to the nurses and staff of Centra Hospice for their care and attention.
A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Cynthia Branham officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post 16.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2016 at Whitten Monelison Chapel and at other times at the residence.
