Born in Norfolk, August 29, 1960, he was the son of Larry Blaine Gillespie and the late Virginia Peele Gillespie.
In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by three sisters, Sandy Nice (Temple), Cathy Hinshee (Pete) and Loretta Lynn Beverly; he is also survived by his father-in-law, Tim Johnson, Mother-in-law Jacque Johnson; three sisters-in-law, Charlé Zimny (Don Cordineer), April Burrows (Brad Williams) and Heather Payne (Artie); one brother-in-law, Robert Johnson (Rhonda), three step-children, Michael Murphy (Rebecca) Justin Henley (Jordan Beasley) and September Lynn (Ryan); seven step-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Poplar united Methodist Church, 1563 Richmond Hwy., Amherst. The family will receive friends following the service until 8 p.m.
