Richard Justin Mays

Richard Justin Mays, 37, of Amherst passed away on Monday, August 31, 2020. Born on May 6, 1983 in Lynchburg, he was the son of Ruth Louise Wright and the late Rickey Leon Mays. Justin was raised in Amherst County and was the owner/ operator of Extreme Bounce. Justin was an outdoors enthusiast and loved driving and traveling. He also enjoyed playing cards and poker and watching basketball and football. Justin was a Washington Redskins fan and liked LeBron James. Justin is preceded in death by a close friend who was like a brother, Carl "Chewy" Mayberry. In addition to his mother, Justin is survived by his children, Ethan Justin Mays, Karlie Malynn Roberts, Tawnie Lynn Phillips, Andrea Mackenzie Phillips, and an unborn child (mother, Kristin Carter); siblings, Brad Mays and wife Michelle, Jeff Mays, Casey Mays, and Brooke Griffin; 14 nieces and nephews; close friends, Dan Ramsey, Fred Tomlin, and Zach Wilkins; and numerous other family members and friends. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 7, 2020 from 6-8 pm at Whitten Monelison Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Briarwood Memorial Gardens.
