Robert Allen Mays of Amherst was born a perfect child on December 28, 1981 to Roger A. and Joyce T. Mays. At the age of four months, after receiving his DPT shot, Robbie began a lifetime of seizures as the result of M.R. and C.P.
Through many hospitalizations during his life, he always managed to come thru with flying colors, and visitors were always met by a big smile and that ever present twinkle in his eyes. Affectionately known as Robbie, he was also called Dude…The latest nickname was Mr. Woody, given to him several months before his passing and was the last name he responded to.
Robbie was preceded in death by his older brother, Ronald Scott Fulcher and his grandparents, Harry Tate and Myrtle Thacker of Lovingston and Robert and Thelma Mays of Madison Heights.
Robbie is survived by his brothers, Cory Mays (Sara) of Madison Heights and Mike Fulcher (Megan) of Lexington, VA; two nephews, Scott Fulcher of Lexington and Johnathan Mays of Madison Heights and a niece, Tess Fulcher of Chicago.
Thanks to Dr. Bauer of UVA Seizure Clinic for giving Robbie the last two years of his life, freedom from seizures and to the doctors and nurses of the Pulmonary ICU at Centra for their wonderful care of Robbie in his final days.
Love your children unconditionally and tell them every day just how much they are loved…it may be your last chance…Robbie’s life was cut short by Covid.
