Roger Keith O'Neil Sr.

Roger Keith O’Neil, Sr., 78, of Amherst, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Guggenheime Nursing Home. Born on December 14, 1939, in Syracuse, N.Y., he was the son of the late William Henry O’Neil, Sr. and Frances Wall O’Neil. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Gary O’Neil.

Mr. O’Neil was a retired salesman and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

Mr. O’Neil is survived by four sons, Roger K. O’Neil, Jr. and wife, Susan of Amherst, Ronald K. O’Neil of Madison Heights, Randy K. O’Neil and wife, Ruth, and Ricky K. O’Neil, both of Lynchburg,; one brother, the Rev. William H. O’Neil, Jr. and wife, Dorothy of Mexico, N.Y.; one sister, Bonnie O. Poling and husband, Phil of Vernon Center, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor J.D. Surbaugh, Jr. officiating. The interment, with military honors by American Legion Post 16 in the family cemetery, will be private.

The family will receive friends, for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m. at the church.
