

Russell Vaughn Davis, 81, of Madison Heights, VA, passed away Monday, January 17, 2011 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Eunice S. Davis, London, England. Born in Amherst County on August 30, 1929, he was the eldest son of the late Wimple Vaughn Davis and Myrtle Stinnette Davis. Russell retired from the US Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant with 22 years of decorated service. He then retired as a realtor from Ford Garbee. Russell was known to his friends as an avid hunter and fisherman, whose passion has been passed on to his son and grandsons. Russell also enjoyed gardening as a hobby.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert F. Davis, and James E. Davis, and one sister Doris D. Rogers.
In addition to his beloved wife of 56 years, he is survived by his daughter, Sharon D. Langford (Reid) of St. Augustine, FL, son, Gary S. Davis (Shellie) of Jeannette, PA, grandchildren Bryan and Katie Davis and Chris Langford.
Russell is also survived by two sisters Grace Watson, of Forest, VA, Jean Gilliam (Gerald) of Forest, VA, three brothers Bruce Davis of Radford, VA, Alton Davis (Barbara) of Elon, Phillip Davis (Ann) of Madison Heights, VA and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Monelison Rescue Squad for their assistance, special friends Clayton and Brenda Staton and James Morfield, and the rest of our friends whose support over the past few years is greatly appreciated.
A Memorial and Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2011at Whitten Monelison Chapel, in Madison Heights, VA.
The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Russell’s name to a charity of one’s choice.
