

Born in Campbell County, May 5, 1938, he was the son of the late Samuel Letcher Puckett and Maryon Jenks Puckett. Randy was retired from the Central Virginia Training Center after 42 years of service and proudly served his country in the US Army. He was a member and past treasurer of Randolph Memorial Baptist Church. Randy was a proud member and past Master of the Clinton Masonic Lodge #73 AF & AM, past Rite Grand Master and District Education officer of the 21st Masonic District. He was a member and past Venable Master and 32nd degree KCCH of the Scottish Rite Lynchburg Valley. He was also a past member and President of the Lynchburg Shrine Club. For many years, Randy was a Road Runner in the Shrine Club and transported sick children for care at Shriners Hospitals on the east coast. Randy loved to be on the lake and enjoyed hunting on the property on the river. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Betty Burks Puckett.
He is survived by one son, Samuel Randolph “Randall” Puckett, Jr. and his wife Stephanie of Lynchburg; one daughter, Christy P. Mitchell and her husband Steve of Amherst; three grandchildren, Sam R. Puckett, III, Spence H. Puckett and Casey A. Mitchell and his faithful companion Tilley.
A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Dr. Derik Hamby officiating. Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Naruna with military honors by the Altavista American Legion Post 36.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Masonic Rites provided at 8:00 p.m.
