Thornton Eugene Staton, 76, of Madison Heights, passed away, Wednesday, February 09, 2011 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Shirley Reynolds Staton.
Born April 14, 1934 in Amherst County, he was the son of the late Eddie Russell Staton and Nanny Adams Staton and was also preceded in death by one son, Steve Staton; two brothers and one sister. Mr. Staton was a truck driver with forty six years of service. He retired from Overnite Transportation with thirty-five years of service and had eleven years of service with Wilson Trucking.
Mr. Staton is survived by three sons, Wesley Staton, Dennis Staton, and William Staton and wife, Nancy, all of Madison Heights; one sister, Nancy Parker of Amherst and three grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 11, 2011 at Briarwood Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Charles Stinson officiating.
The family will receive friends, today, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
