

Born November 25, 1939 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late William Henry Brooks, Sr. and the late Daisy Bruffy Brooks and was also preceded in death by a brother, Raymond E. Brooks and a sister, Macie B. Sizer. Mr. Brooks retired from the Central Virginia Training Center with almost twenty years of service and was a self-employed roofer for more than forty years. He was a member of Fairview Christian Church.
Mr. Brooks is survived by a daughter, Rhonda B. Franklin and husband Rodney of Madison Heights; a son, William H. Brooks, III and wife Christine of Hagerstown, MD; a sister, Diane B. McCulloch and husband Dan of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, Wendy Coley, Amy Faulconer, Daisy Faulconer, and Madeline Brooks; six grandchildren and his girlfriend of more than twenty-six years, Beulah Abbott.
At Mr. Brooks’ request, a graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Curtis Wheeler officiating.
Following the graveside service, a time of food and fellowship will be held at Tree of Life Ministries, Midtown.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Friday, April 5, 2013 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
