

Born on May 15, 1937 in Amherst County, he was the son of the late Henry Harrison Campbell and Doris Wood Campbell.
William retired from the Lynchburg Foundry Company after 34 years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and fishing and he had a kind place in his heart for children.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Henry “Pete” Campbell, Jr. and Hillsman Campbell; one sister, Lillian C. Christian and a granddaughter, Trinity Burks.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, William “W.T.” Campbell, Jr. and wife Missy of Forest; his two daughters, Debbie Wall and husband Calvin of Rustburg and Kristy Burks and husband David of Amherst; eight grandchildren, Tiffany, Joshua, Jamie (Eric), Kaley (Johnny), Little Thell, Sydney (Stefan), Kacey (Dakota), and Devan (Cory); nine great grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Christian and husband Elbert of Amherst; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. John Ed Williams, Dr. David Truitt, and Centra Hospice, including, Linda Quinn, Mrs. Katie, and Chaplain Chris for their care and compassion during Williams illness.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Whitten Monelison Chapel, with Chaplain Christine Payden-Travers officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
