Albert Jackson (Jack) Gregory, 90, of Glasgow entered into Heaven on January 30, 2025. Jack died of a broken heart. The love of his life, Shirley, entered into Heaven on January 1, 2025. Since her passing, Jack had continually prayed for The Lord to take him home to be with Shirley and The Lord answered his prayers.
Jack was the oldest son of Albert and Margaret Gregory of Ward. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his parents; sisters, Joan Christian and Jessie Gregory; and son-in-law, Michael Clark.
Jack graduated from East Bank High School where he played football. He met Shirley there where she was a cheerleader. Jack married the love of his life on December 12, 1953. They were married for 71 years. He was employed by Valley Camp Coal Company and other area coal companies for 37 years. Upon completion of his coal mining career, he obtained his securities and life insurance licenses and worked for Primerica Financial Services for many years.
Jack met Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1963 and shortly after was called by The Lord to preach. He attended classes at Appalachian Bible College to better prepare him for the ministry. He was in the ministry for 62 years. He pastored several Baptist churches in the Kanawha Valley over the years. Jack had a radio broadcast every Sunday morning on WMON out of Montgomery, WV. He became active in the prison ministry at South Central Regional Jail. He was active with Revival Crusade led by Dr. Glenn Mathews. As stated in Acts 8, they went everywhere preaching the Word. Jack believed The Great Commission. He believed that just as God called His Son, Jesus, he was called to tell everyone about the repentance and remission of sins. Christ was real in Jack's life. He studied his Bible daily and was always witnessing to everyone he met. His greatest desire in life was to see souls saved for The Lord. His daughters, their husbands, his granddaughters, their husbands, and all his great grandchildren were saved. In his last days, Jack was still witnessing to nursing staff and workers in the hospital.
Jack's love of The Lord led him to travel to the Holy Land with tours led by his dear friend, Glenn Mathews thirteen times always desiring to learn more about the land where Jesus lived and preached.
Jack and Shirley have been active church members throughout the years serving in various capacities and with Revival Crusade. He was a member of Spring Fork Missionary Baptist Church, Campbell's Creek.
Jack is survived by daughters Linda Clark of Scott Depot and Mary Whitehair (Larry) of Scott Depot, granddaughters Melanie Weaver (Jackson) of Scott Depot and Allyson Jones (Joe) and great grandchildren Kade, Laurel and Chase Weaver and Ellie Jones.
