

Berman Ellis Walton, 81, of Hurricane, formally of Campbell’s Creek Drive, passed away at Southern Ohio Medical Center on December 17, 2014 following a long illness. Berman was born April 11, 1933 in Covington, Virginia to the late John and Annie Walton. He was also preceded in death by brothers James and Leslie Walton, sisters Florence Huffman and Geneva Ellis. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War and member of the UMWA. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for Pratt Mining Company. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Janice; son Keith (Kim) Walton of Campbell’s Creek Drive; daughter Kim (Jeff) Meadows of Hurricane; grandchildren Amber (Charlie) Short; Kristen (John) Spurgeon; Sean Walton; Lindsay (Adam) Howerton; Tara Meadows; Sydnee Walton; step-grandchildren Evan and Chad Fridley; great-grandchildren Haleigh, Trenton and Avah Short; Amelia Rose Howerton due December 25th; and, one brother of Covington, Virginia, Charles Walton. Funeral services will be held Saturday December 20, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden with Rev. Wesley Chris Wriston officiating. The committal service and burial will be held on Monday December 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar. A visitation with family and friends will be held Saturday December 20 from noon until service time at the funeral home.
