Carlos Darrell Burdette, 83, of Charleston and Danese, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at home. Carlos was born in Putney on February 18, 1934, to the late Donald and Erma Ratliff Burdette. He was retired from the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 625 with 50 plus years’ service. He attended the Faith Freewill Baptist Church, Danese and was of the Second Advent Christian Faith. He was a U. S. Navy veteran, loved camping and attending Blue Grass Festivals. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Don, Elmer, Vernor and Harold Burdette; and sisters, Peggy Tawney and Loretta Hall. Carols is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jo Ann Hanshew Burdette; daughter, Rhonda (Ron) Norman of Charleston; son, Darnell Burdette of Charleston; sister, Reathel Thompson of Virginia; brother, Marlin Burdette of Charleston; grandchildren, Eric Douglas and Lauren (Morgan) Conley, both of Charleston; great-grandchildren, Aila and Avery Conley, both of Charleston. The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Pastor Areo Sharp and Pastor Allen Whitt officiating. The viewing and committal service will follow the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. at Wallace Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, Clintonville. A visitation with family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at the funeral home. The family would like to think Kanawha Hospice and all the nurses for the love and care given to Carlos.
