

David "Joe" Crowder, born on June 2, 1955, in Charleston, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026, in Parkersburg, West Virginia. He was 70 years old. David’s life was one of joy, faith, and connection, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A proud graduate of DuPont Senior High School, David carried his education into a lifelong career as a dedicated member of the UA Pipefitters and Plumbers Union Local 625. His commitment to his craft and his union reflected his strong work ethic and sense of community.
David cherished his family deeply. He is survived by his loving sisters, Connie Jo Crowder and Sheila Kay Harman; his aunt, Judith Listopad; his uncle, David Crowder; and his children, Kristen Arnold and Ira Nathan Rignall. He also leaves behind many beloved cousins and countless friends who will forever remember him with fondness. Preceding him in death were his parents, Patricia Atkins Crowder and Howard Thornton Crowder; his grandparents, Madeline E. Atkins and Ira N. Atkins; and his sister Cheryl Lyn Crowder.
David had a zest for life that was evident in everything he did. He loved traveling to new places, exploring the world with curiosity and enthusiasm. Swimming and diving were among his favorite pastimes—activities that brought him both joy and serenity. Known for lighting up any room he entered with his great sense of humor, David’s warmth and laughter were gifts he shared generously with those around him.
A deeply spiritual man, David held his faith close to his heart throughout his life. His spirituality was a guiding force that shaped the way he lived—with kindness, compassion, and an unwavering belief in the goodness of others.
David’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and faith, a testament to a life well-lived. May the memory of David "Joe" Crowder bring comfort to all who knew him as they celebrate the remarkable person, he was.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at the West Virginia Memorial Mausoleum Chapel of Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens 5233 Rocky Fork Road, Cross Lanes, WV 25356.
