Kay Eveva Kinder Coon, 63, of Hernshaw, WV, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 7th, 2023, after succumbing to an illness she fought long and hard for the past few years. She is now healed and in the arms of her eternal savior.
Kay was born on February 18, 1960, in Charleston, West Virginia to Donald and Jean Kinder of Hernshaw. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1978. She was employed by One Valley Bank for 21 years. There she made lasting friendships. Following her time at the bank, she was a Kanawha County Schools employee for 16 years. Most of those years were spent as the secretary at Marmet Elementary. The impact she made on the students who passed through the halls of Marmet were monumental because of her love and care for each one.
Kay was married to the love of her life, Paul, for almost 41 years on August 28th. They were together for nearly 45 years. She was his best friend and soulmate. Kay was a loving mother to Emily (Josh) Bowles and Cassie (Evin) Hamm both of Belle, WV. She loved to spoil her girls and was always there for them any time of day or night. She was the proudest and best Nana to her grandbabies, Avery, Knox, Caroline, Isla and Mylo who adored her. She had a very special relationship with her younger sister Donna (Rodney) Caruthers. They were always there for one another. A bond that will be forever cherished. To know Kay was to love her. She touched so many lives during her 63 years here on earth.
Kay never stopped, never sat down, and always enjoyed being on the go. She was a Girl Scout troop leader for many years with both of her girls. These were some of her best memories and where she positively impacted the lives of so many youths. She was a member of Hernshaw Methodist Church her whole life where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the women's society. Kay loved cooking, shopping, gardening, sewing and being a Nana. Most importantly, she loved God and her family more than anything.
