Lyle Edward Young

He was born March 11, 1936, to the late Elmer and Julia George Young. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Young Taylor; grandson, Adam Marshall; brothers, Charles and Larry Young; and sisters, Delores Williams, Freda Garten, and Pauline Proctor.

He was a 1954 graduate of DuPont High School and retired from Advance Auto Parts. Lyle was also a retired minister having pastored at Mt. Lewis Baptist Church and Georges Creek Baptist Church. He was a member of Georges Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marilyn; daughters, Lora Young (Bob Russell) and Pamela Young (Dwight Lanham) of Rand; grandson, Seth Taylor of Charleston; granddaughter, Whitney (Jason) Backus; and great-grandson, Logan Backus, all of Shrewsbury.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Friday, August 19, 2022 at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden with Pastors James Hill and Jack Gregory officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
