

Robert Edward Woods, 78 of Parkersburg, formerly of Campbells Creek, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016, at the Marietta Center in Marietta, Ohio. Robert was born in Putney on October 14, 1937, to the late Lovell and Mattie Wolfe Woods. He was retired from Chemical Lehman Tank Lines with 26 years of service. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 175, the Salina Lodge #27 A.F & A.M. and the Scottish Rite. He was a former member of the Big Bottom Missionary Baptist Church, a U. S. Army Veteran and a published poet. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Johnson; brothers, Victor “Gene” Woods and Russell “Butch” Woods; and sister, Norma “Sissy” DeBolt. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Joy (Robert) Beeler of Parkersburg; son, Richard (Mary) Woods of Charleston; brothers, Tommy, Lewis “Con” and Carl “Buck” Woods, all of Charleston; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with the Rev. Fred Christian officiating. The burial will follow the service at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. A visitation with family and friends will be held Monday, March 7 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
