Shirley married the love of her life, Jack Gregory, on December 12, 1953. They were married for 71 years. She was the youngest daughter of Basil and Thelma King Myers. She and her two sisters were raised by her grandparents, Earl and Helen Myers of Riverside. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and her two sisters, Virginia Glenn and Barbara Hudnall.
Shirley graduated from East Bank High School where she was a cheerleader and learned her secretarial skills that she used as a secretary at Cedar Grove High School, DuPont High
School and then as an Executive Secretary for Kanawha County Board of Education. She was employed by Kanawha County Schools for over 35 years. As a school secretary, she was able
to help many children who couldn't afford a lunch or a winter coat or a sweater or dress for a school program. After graduation, the students she had helped would return to thank her for
investing in their lives. After retiring, Shirley volunteered at CAMC for 30 years to help patients and their family members. She also volunteered at Meals on Wheels to put together the lunches that were delivered to shut ins.
She and Jack have been active church members throughout the years serving in various capacities and with Revival Crusade. She was a member of Spring Fork Missionary Baptist Church in Campbells Creek.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Jack; daughters, Linda Clark of Scott Depot and Mary Whitehair (Larry) of Scott Depot; granddaughter, Melanie Weaver (Jackson) of Scott Depot and granddaughter, Allyson Jones (Joe) of Sissonville and great-grandchildren, Kade, Laurel and Chase Weaver and Ellie Jones.
The children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were able to spend many vacations in Disney World and The Polynesian Village Resort with Jack and Shirley. That was her favorite place to
take her family to each summer. Shirley's days were numbered by The Lord at 33,057. She loved 2Timothy 4:7-8: "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which The Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."
