Wilbert Eugene Williams Jr.

Gene was born in Charleston on June 1, 1964, to Vernetta Farmer Williams and the late Wilbert Eugene Williams Sr. He was at 1982 graduate of DuPont High School and was a former employee at the Little General in Malden. Gene was an associate member of the Brothers of the Wheel since 2001 and was a member of the Levi Missionary Baptist Church.

Along with his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Herald Williams.

Gene is survived by his mother, Vernetta Farmer Williams of Charleston; wife, Michelle Williams; daughter, Destini Hackney of Belle; son, Chance Hackney of Charleston; sister, Patricia Vacoway of Minneapolis, Minnesota; cousin, Leona Rodeheaver of Terra Alta, West Virginia; special friends, Timmy and Cindy Campbell of North Carolina; god son, Dustin Campbell; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Pastor James Jackson officiating. At Gene’s request, following the services, cremation will be honored.

A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
